Tiger Travel Softball Teams

WDMGS Competitive Teams is a competitive softball program that is open to all girls who attend school in the West Des Moines Community School District or live in West Des Moines and participate in the WDMGS Rec League. We offer competitive teams in the 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under and 14 & under age levels.

Each summer, WDMGS offers a try-out process where girls are ranked on their ability to throw, catch, field and hit.

Head Coaches must go through an interview process with the WDMGS Board and are selected by the board members for each competitive team. The selected coaches, along with input from the Tournament Team Committee, select players based on their try-out and other evaluations. Please note that every girl is NOT guaranteed to make a competitive team.

The WDMGS competitive teams begins practicing in July/August and play in tournaments in the fall and the following spring and summer. Each participant is responsible for providing their own softball glove, closed toe shoes/cleats (no metal spikes), bat, and batter’s helmet with proper face guard and chin strap. Fees are collected above and beyond the normal league fees for the year to cover expenses related to the competitive tournaments, practices, uniforms, etc.
